Home > News > FOLKS Board Meets DHEC & Army Corp The FOLKS Board has instituted regular meetings with experts from state & federal agencies plus academia to improve communications and knowledge needed to enhance Lake Keowee. The May meeting included Robert Jackson, Jr., Regional DHEC Director of Region 1, and Colt Bowles from The US Army Corps of Engineers.
DHEC Region 1 Director R. Jackson with Folks' Pres. Bill Graham Mr Jackson brought four of his staff, allowing broad discussion including sewage lines, dam inspections, sedimentation, and enforcement. The one and half hour discussion concluded reviewing how each side could better interact. The second half focused on the role of the US Army Corps of Engineers in its enforcement of the Clean Water Act and its delineation and protection of wetlands. While their role on Lake Keowee is not as broad as upon defined navigable waters, Colt Bowles laid out the many planning and enforcement tools that impact the lake.
