Lake Keowee

Keowee is an exceptional, "blue water" lake, 23 miles in length over 3 miles at its widest point. It depth averages 54 ft but can exceed 150 ft and has over 300 miles of shoreline. Lake Keowee is the recipient of the clean and clear waters of Lake Jocassee and Sumter National Forest.

Lake Keowee was created by Duke Energy as part of the Keowee-Toxaway Project to support its Oconee Station electric power generation. Keowee also serves as a source of drinking water for Greenville and Seneca.
