Lake Keowee is located in the northwest foothills of South Carolina. This exceptional "blue water lake" is about 29 miles long with approximately 300 miles of shoreline.

Friends of Lake Keowee Society or FOLKS was established in 1993 to focus attention on the importance of Lake Keowee and its watershed to the economic and recreational well-being of upstate SC. Thousands of jobs, primarily in Oconee and Pickens Counties, can be attributed directly to the lake and, indirectly, many more are impacted.

Friends of Lake Keowee Society is working at all levels to preserve this treasure for residents, users, the local economy and future generations.

The pagetop links will allow you to learn more about FOLKS and how you can help. If you have a lake problem, our Ombudsmen link will show how we can assist. To reach the FOLKS Headquarters use links at the bottom of the page.
